In Japan, a lot of people live in apartments where pets are not allowed. So this thing called a Cat Cafe has sprung up. It's exactly what it sounds like - a cafe with cats. You go in, pay 800Y for half an hour to an hour, maybe order a coffee, and play with, pet, or just watch the felines.

We went yesterday for my friend Ceili's birthday. The cats were really really cute. I'm more of a dog person, but this is just too cute:
One of the staff enticing the cats to play.
Chris makes a friend.
Everyone started cleaning themselves...and each other.
Some of the cat paraphernalia we passed on the way out:
We then went to sit on the banks of the Kamogawa - the main river that runs through Kyoto. I'm going to miss it.
Then on to yakiniku. They serve you meat raw and you cook it yourself over a common grill in the centre of your table. It's sooo delicious.
I ate heart for the first time - see here.
One of the things I'm really going to bitch about when I come back to Sydney is the transport system. In Japan, not only do buses always run on time, there's usually a little machine at the bus stp telling you exactly how much stops away the next bus is.
