"Time weighs down on you like an old, ambiguous dream. You keep on moving, trying to slip through it. But even if you go to the ends of the earth, you won't be able to escape it. Still, you have to go there- to the edge of the world. There's something you can't do unless you get there."

教科書はつまらないから ~ "Because Textbooks are Boring" (or, 7 Ways to learn Japanese online & for free) Part 1

(1) IKNOW JAPANESE

This program – really a collection of programs – starts with a set of vocab called a ‘list’ and then puts each in a sentence, so you learn the word in context. For example, Japanese Core 2000:Step 1 teaches you 200 basic vocab in the context of sentences. It goes up to Step 10 - learning 2000 vocab in all (but probably in reality more, as you learn them in the context of a sentence, and therefore, along with other words).

There are other tools on IKNOW like Brain Speed (which simultaneously melts your brain and makes you really good at picking up vocab fast) and Dictation (which tests your listening skills – probably the hardest thing in Japanese).

RADWIMPS is a J-Rock music group formed in 2001 while the members were in high school. Their name is a mix of the English words 'rad' and 'wimp', and according to their official website, it is a term they coined themselves meaning "excellent weakling" or "superlative coward".
